DIDACTIC UNIT - masterchef junior

Starting from the Royal Decree 126/2014, of 28 of February, establishing the basic curriculum of Primary Education (BOE Nº 52,1-3-2014), children should get the acquisition of basic notions of culinary culture so they will be able to develop and keep a healthy life. In order to develop and fulfill the royal decree we are going to make a didactic unit about real food which will be called as “Master-chef Junior”. The term “ real food” is a lifestyle based on eating real food and avoiding the ultra processed. It is a movement that defends the right to healthy food for the population. Moreover, it is a revolution that fights with knowledge and conscience against the dark side of the food industry.

The purpose of this didactic unit is help children, in an attractive and funny way, to be aware of the characteristics of the food and be able to choose the best meals to have a happy life. We are going to work with students of the third cycle of primary, specifically with sixth course. In order to do that we will take the attention of the children by telling them that they are going to participate in the program of the TV “Masterchef Junior”. So the children will have to make a healthy menu by groups and then present it to their peers. Afterwards the children will have to choose the menu that they like the most in order to have a winner group.
